THE QFTC ORGANIZES AN TRADE MISSION IN LOS ANGELES TO PROMOTE THE QUEBEC ANIMATION SECTOR
Seven Quebec animation studios meet key Hollywood decision makers
Los Angeles, March 27, 2019 – Following the success of previous trade missions coordinated by the QFTC and to support the growth of the animation sector, the QFTC has organized an “Animation Mission” taking place this week in Los Angeles.
From March 26 to 28, 2019, Chanelle Routhier, National Commissioner, Film & TV, as well as Jennifer Price, QFTC Representative in Los Angeles, will accompany seven Quebec animation studios as part of this mission. Over those three days, participants will attend exclusive meetings and networking events to present Quebec’s production service offering in animation. They will have the opportunity to meet independent producers and some of the most important animation studios in the industry, such as Disney, Dreamworks, Hulu, Jim Henson, Nickelodeon and Sony, to name just a few.
Here are the Quebec companies taking part in this trade mission:
- 10th avenue Production
- Blue Bug Entertainment
- Caribara Montréal
- Cinesite
- Kaïbou Productions
- L’Atelier Animation
- Mikros Animation
Through its various trade missions, the QFTC aims to give Quebec professionals the chance to promote their expertise and their know-how on foreign markets. “My team and I are confident that this mission will yield positive trade benefits for the province of Quebec and that the American studios and producers we will meet will be impressed by the Quebec production service offering in animation,” stated Chanelle Routhier, National Commissioner, Film & TV.
The animation sector is an area of the Quebec audiovisual industry currently experiencing major economic growth. With about fifteen studios in Quebec, the value of the animation productions totalled 42 million dollars in 2017, an increase of 67% over 2016.
The QFTC would like to thank the participants in this mission for their trust and support.
