Montreal, June 13, 2019 – From June 4th to 6th, the Quebec Film and Television Council (QFTC) led a VFX Fam Tour, hosting five American executives working in this sector. During these three days, nearly 20 studios were visited, allowing these key decision-makers to meet local talent.

The five participants were:

“The QFTC provided an amazing and comprehensive tour of the VFX resources in Montreal. Having already worked with several of the vendors, the trip provided the opportunity to not only say hello to these partners in person, but also to be introduced to a wealth of new talent to work with in the future,” said Chad Tomasoski, Executive Director, Post-Production, Legendary Television & Digital Studios.

The VFX Fam Tour 2019 was aligned with the 5th edition of Effects America, in which the QFTC was once again a partner. As part of this event, decisions-makers were invited to take part in business meetings with VFX vendors from Montreal, the Laurentians & Quebec city.

The partnership with Effects America confirms the importance that the QFTC attaches to this immense ecosystem. Indeed, in 2018, visual effects studios in Quebec generated CAD $493 million, an 88% increase over the previous year. Quebec’s visual effects and animation industry is now one of the most important hubs in the world, representing nearly 4,000 workers.

Organized by the QFTC’s Film Commission Services, Fam Tours are designed to allow local industry professionals to promote their expertise and know-how to foreign producers while ensuring Quebec’s economic development.

The QFTC would like to thank the participants of the tour, its Prestige partners and members for their trust and support towards the success of this tour.
