The QFTC Renews its Partnership with Cartoon Connection

From October 1 to 3, the 9th edition of Cartoon Connection Canada will be held at the Québec City Convention Centre. More than 400 animation professionals will benefit from this unique networking opportunity, bringing together the largest producers and broadcasters in the field from Europe, Canada and South America.

The purpose of this three-day event is to enable participants to establish and strengthen lasting creative and commercial relationships, to improve their knowledge of the different markets and to discuss the latest trends set to shake up their industry. The event also generates new partnership opportunities and encourages cooperation and the distribution of animation projects between markets. The prestigious guests of this year’s edition include Bardel Entertainment, BBC, Bluebird Distribution, CANAL+ Pôle Jeunesse, CBC/Radio-Canada, Corus, Disney Channels Worldwide, Distribution360, France Télévisions, Société Radio-Canada, Sony Pictures Animation, Superights and Télé-Québec.

In addition to conferences, presentations and networking activities, more than 1,000 bilateral (B2B) meetings are organized during the event and allow for business discussions between professionals from different countries, which is a strong catalyst for the development of partnerships.

Added to this program are the Cartoon Connection Awards, which give four Canadian producers the opportunity to attend the prestigious European Cartoon Forum and Cartoon Movie events.

“Cartoon Connection plays a key role in a number of areas, including the international commercialization of the intellectual property of Quebec producers. The presence of major international broadcasters and recognized production companies gives our creators and craftspeople a unique opportunity to showcase their talent and expertise. The QFTC is proud to be part of this exciting event that is helping Quebec’s animation industry extend its reach internationally” said Pierre Moreau, CEO of the Quebec Film and Television Council.

Abitibi-Témiscamingue

A landscape of contrasting scenery of lakes and rivers, the vast region of Abitibi-Témiscamingue is situated north of the Ottawa river region, along the Quebec-Ontario border. It is inhabited by friendly people who take pride in sharing their history and culture.

Abitibi-Témiscamingue is very young, as far as regions go—its oldest city is 130 years old. However, traces of the Anishinabek people date back 8,000 years, and this Algonquin First Nation continues to be a thriving presence in the territory today.
